After a very successful 2016 in the Morgan Challenge, we planned a limited programme in 2017 for the New Elms Class C +8.
The first 6 races (4 at Silverstone and 2 at Brands Hatch) produced one class win, four 2nd and one 3rd place.
The next meeting at Donnington, after setting class pole time in qualifying and the fastest race lap, Tim had a “coming together” with Tim Parsons entering a chicane and finished up in the gravel!
As no more races were on the agenda, the slightly damaged car was put away until next season, when we may be lucky enough to race at Spa-Francorchamps.
Meanwhile, John Bevan was in the process of changing cars. His trusty 4/4 was destined for a new home in Portugal and there was a delay in John’s new acquisition – the ex Simon Scott’s Roadster Lightweight – being available to him. As a result, only a few races were entered, which gave John a good opportunity to get accustomed to his new car.
At the same time, John was in the throws of establishing a new venture – “Classic Tracks” – a track day company aimed at organising circuit days for drivers of classic cars.
